KALAMAZOO, MI — In 1968, master mechanic Eurtis Jones Sr. opened the Jones 3-N-1 Service Stop at the intersection of North Westnedge Avenue and Elizabeth Street in the city’s Northside neighborhood.
The building, anchored by Jones’ auto shop also featured, on one end, a neighborhood candy store, and on the other, a car wash. Hence the 3-N-1. To many in the community, it was known simply as Jones’ shop, said his daughter Cea Green, 49.
